Planning Your Launch

Where Can I Launch My Rocket?

Launching your rocket is exciting — but choosing the right launch location is essential.

For most LaunchLab kits, especially mid-power and high-power rockets, we strongly recommend launching with an established rocketry club. Clubs provide suitable fields, launch equipment, experienced safety support and clear procedures to help you launch safely and legally.

Unless you are launching from an approved site or under the required authorisation, your rocket must not fly above 400 ft (120 m) above ground level.

Many LaunchLab mid-power kits are capable of flying higher than this. That means they should be flown through a recognised rocketry club at an approved launch location.

The easiest and safest option is always to launch with a club.

Why Launch With a Club?

Find a Club in Your State

We recommend contacting your local rocketry club before buying motors or planning a launch. They can provide current advice for your state, suitable launch sites and the types of rockets commonly flown in your area.

Tripoli Rocketry Association — Find a Prefecture

Rocketry clubs make launches safer, easier and more enjoyable.

At a club launch, you can access:

  • A suitable launch site

  • Approved launch procedures

  • Launch pads, rods, rails and controllers

  • Range Safety Officers and experienced flyers

  • Help selecting an appropriate motor

  • Pre-flight safety checks

  • Advice on recovery setup and weather conditions

  • A community of people who can help you learn

You do not need to be an expert before attending. Club launches are one of the best places to fly your first rocket.
